Improving the lives of animals through essential care, financial assistance, and low cost spay and neuter.

It all began in 2020 when Alison Saltsman, then working at the Leitchfield Animal Shelter, saw firsthand the overwhelming number of stray cats and litters of kittens flooding into the shelter. Determined to address the root of the problem, she launched the GC Kentucky Assisted TNR Project. This initiative focused on humanely trapping, neutering, and returning (TNR) healthy working felines in heavily populated areas of Grayson County, KY, to curb the overpopulation crisis and reduce the number of cats entering the shelter.

At first, Alison and Bambi Snyder managed to fit in a few cat surgeries at any nearby clinic they could find. Over time, their efforts expanded to guaranteeing transport of 10 cats each month to Alley Cat Advocates in Louisville. While this was a significant step forward, they knew more needed to be done. Their passion for helping the community led to the formation of Fix Grayson County KY in September 2023, officially founded by Alison Saltsman (President & Treasurer), Bambi Snyder (Secretary), and Micci Potter (Operations Manager).

After forming the organization, the team ramped up their efforts, transporting over 40 cats — and a few dogs — from Grayson County to the FOBCA spay/neuter clinic in Morgantown each month. In 2023 alone, the organization assisted in getting 341 cats and dogs spayed and neutered, and that number grew to an incredible 587 in 2024. 

Then, on February 14, 2025, Fix Grayson County KY held its first cat spay neuter clinic at their brand new facility in Clarkson, KY — a dream turned into reality.
